One dressed in cargo pants and the standard military green sweatshirt. The other sports a blue dress and a yellow scarf, reminiscent of the Kiev flag. Not the Ukrainian presidential couple, but a miniature version. The two sons of US Secretary of State Antony Blinken dressed as Volodymyr Zelensky and Olena Zelenska, invited together with 8 thousand other people to the White House Halloween event.
A tribute to the allied country that did not go unnoticed and attracted photographers. The two children paraded in front of the cameras before arriving at American President Joe Biden, who gave sweets to each of the little participants. The traditional trick or treating was held in one of the spaces of the residence in Washington, the south portico. The guests were children from local schools and the children of White House employees, who one by one met the presidential couple.
So, between a call with the Foreign Minister of Qatar and a meeting with his Nepalese counterpart, Blinken took a short break with his family. An event to celebrate the popular American holiday, sponsored by First Lady Jill Biden, who for the occasion wore cat makeup (complete with fake ears). Her teacher’s touch – she has worked as a teacher for almost thirty years – can be seen in the theme chosen for this year: the party was entitled Hallo-READ, a play on words that recalls an invitation to reading. Not a coincidence. In fact, along with the classic sweets, the presidential couple also gave books to the little participants.
