John Stamos Pays Tribute to Matthew Perry: How the Late ‘Friends’ Star Came to His Aid during Embarrassing Moment on Set

In a heartfelt Instagram post, actor John Stamos revealed that the late Matthew Perry, known for his role as Chandler Bing on the hit sitcom “Friends,” came to his aid during an embarrassing moment on the show’s set.

Stamos made a surprise cameo on “Friends” in 2003 during its ninth season, playing the character of Zach, Chandler’s co-worker who is considered as a potential sperm donor for Monica and Chandler. Reflecting on his experience, Stamos shared, “Matthew and I had been friendly long before ‘Friends,’ so when I guest starred as Zach, the prospective sperm donor, I hung out with him a lot.”

Just before making his entrance on stage, Perry whispered to Stamos, “The audience is going go crazy when they see you! Get ready for some loud screams.” However, to his surprise, when Stamos walked through the door, there was complete silence. Stamos admitted feeling embarrassed by the lack of reaction from the audience.

What Stamos had not previously shared until now was the fact that Perry came to his support in that moment. Stamos revealed that after finishing the scene, Perry walked over to the studio audience and said, “Ladies and gentlemen, give it up for John Stamos! You guys probably didn’t recognize him at first because he’s so much better looking in person!”

Stamos expressed his gratitude for Perry’s heroic act, stating, “I never forgot that and the world will never forget you,” in his tribute to Perry following his untimely death on October 28 at the age of 54. The cause of his death has yet to be revealed.

Matthew Perry gained international recognition for his role as Chandler on “Friends,” which aired for 10 seasons from 1994 to 2004. In the aftermath of Perry’s death, his “Friends” co-stars, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, and David Schwimmer, released a joint statement expressing their devastation and emphasizing their bond as a “family.”

Stamos was not the only “Friends” alum to pay tribute to Perry; Maggie Wheeler, who played Janice on the show, took to Instagram to share her condolences. She wrote, “What a loss. The world will miss you Matthew Perry. The joy you brought to so many in your too short lifetime will live on.”

As fans mourn the loss of Matthew Perry, his impact on the television industry and his remarkable talent will always be remembered.
