Due to her advanced age and reduced mobility, she always attended religious ceremonies accompanied by her friends, on Sundays and other days of the week. They were all very active and known in the community. To R7, journalist Guilherme Franco Nannini, 22, says that he saw his grandmother for the last time on Saturday (28), while they were celebrating his uncle’s birthday. According to Guilherme, the elderly woman – who leaves behind two children and two grandchildren – was very happy, as she enjoyed seeing the whole family together. “My parents went to the barbecue first. My girlfriend and I went after Uber. The first person who came to talk to me was, precisely, her. My grandmother always joked with me a lot, and she said: ‘hey, don’t you want to see me anymore? your grandmother? You were late. I missed you so much’. It seems like it was something of fate”, he recalls, emotionally. On Saturday, the journalist remembers talking about different subjects with Alcina, especially crosswords, a hobby they shared . “I said I was an old man like her”, he says. Gratitude Retired for over 20 years, Alcina worked as head of a department at São Paulo City Hall. “She started working at a young age and came from a very humble. My mother says that they never went hungry, but it was a family that really had everything figured out”, says Guilherme. In addition to the love and affection, the boy is grateful for Alcina’s participation in his academic training and upbringing. “ My grandmother paid for practically all of my studies. She managed to get me to graduate in Journalism. Without her I wouldn’t have been able to do anything”, he says. “We played so much. Poor thing, I almost killed her once. We were playing ball, and she slipped on the living room carpet and hit her back. But she made my childhood, because she played with me, played with cars, did whatever was necessary”, laments Guilherme. The run over Alcina, Alzira and Leonilda died after being run over on Avenida General Ataliba Leonel, on Sunday (29).
