However, Lynch confessed to feeling uncertain about the trade’s feasibility and struggled to sleep the night before the deadline.
With just 90 minutes to go before the deadline, the 49ers and the Commanders finalized the trade agreement. In exchange for Young, the 49ers sent a “special compensatory pick,” expected to be around the No. 100 overall selection, in the 2024 NFL Draft. Young will undergo a physical in the Bay Area before the trade becomes official.
The addition of Chase Young is expected to significantly bolster the 49ers’ defense. Young, who will become an unrestricted free agent in March after completing his fourth NFL season, brings a wealth of talent and potential to the team.
