In the ARD interview after the final whistle, Dortmund coach Edin Terzic (41) was asked about the big goal, the final in the capital, in this cup competition.
“Whenever BVB has won against TSG in the cup in the past, it went to the final. A good omen?” asked the reporter.
When asked, the coach surprised us with a bold statement: “Yes, good omen. But it’s not enough for us to come to Berlin. We want to go to Borsigplatz! And we sent a good example today and showed that we take the competition very seriously.”
BVB full of self-confidence in the duel with Bayern
What Terzic means by this: reaching the final is not the big goal. BVB wants to WIN the cup this year.
The coach already had the pot in his hands. In 2021, Terzic won the DFB Cup in Berlin – but in front of a ghost backdrop during the Corona period. Since then, the original Dortmunder has had the big goal of finally giving Borussia a title again and being able to celebrate it together.
After the Dortmund officials initially held back publicly from making announcements and often spoke of “humility” despite the strong series back in the championship race last season, they are now openly declaring their goals this season.
The desire and longing for the bitter season finale in May has grown even greater.
