Swedish Liberals Look to Denmark for Inspiration on School Integration and Preventive Measures

The Swedish Liberals are pushing for the state to have the power to take control of independent schools that do not adhere to regulations. Inspired by Danish integration policies, Johan Pehrson, Minister of Labor Market and Integration, visited Copenhagen to understand how Denmark has successfully tackled migration and integration issues. Denmark’s approach involves tightening requirements in both migration and crime policies, while also investing in integration and prevention measures. The Liberals aim to focus on schools as a tool for integration and preventing recruitment into gangs. They want stricter measures against poorly behaving schools, particularly religious free schools, and advocate for the state to take control of their management if necessary. Pehrson believes that focusing on language training and placing schools at the center of preventive work can improve integration and prevent the formation of parallel societies.
