In its fourth consecutive year, Sweden’s Allmännytta has unveiled the finalists for the highly anticipated “Best Climate Initiative” competition. The initiative aims to identify and highlight exemplary projects that address areas such as energy efficiency, reliance on fossil fuels, management of power peaks, use of renewable energy, climate requirements for suppliers, and climate-smart housing. The competition strives to encourage knowledge-sharing among real estate companies to combat climate change collectively.

This year’s edition features two categories to ensure inclusion for companies of all sizes. Recently, the finalists for small and medium-sized companies were announced, and now, the finalists for larger companies have been revealed.

The three finalists in the larger companies’ category are Bostads AB Mimer, Mölndalsbostäder, and Bostadsbolaget in Gothenburg.

Bostads AB Mimer impressed the judges with its innovative recycling hub. The company developed an app that allows staff to efficiently book and reuse various products with the next tenant. By promoting recycling and reducing waste, Bostads AB Mimer showcases its commitment to sustainability.

Mölndalsbostäder’s development project, Soperstars, has set an ambitious goal. The initiative aspires to cut the amount of residual waste generated by tenants in half by the year 2030. Through innovative waste management strategies, Mölndalsbostäder aims to lead the way in creating a greener community.

Bostadsbolaget in Gothenburg’s water saving campaign, Waterhack, has also secured a finalist spot. The campaign focuses on encouraging tenants to reduce their water consumption by 5 percent. By raising awareness and promoting behavioral changes, Waterhack inspires residents to actively contribute to water conservation efforts.

Frida Hansson, the competition general and project manager at Sweden’s Allmännytta, expressed her enthusiasm for the finalists’ projects. She emphasized the projects’ emphasis on behavioral change and the creation of commitment among staff and tenants. According to Hansson, these perspectives contribute significantly to achieving real change in combating climate change.

The winners of the “Best Climate Initiative” competition will be unveiled during the Climate and Energy Kick event in Linköping on November 14-15. This highly anticipated event will showcase the most groundbreaking and impactful projects selected by a distinguished jury.

Sweden’s Allmännytta provides an excellent platform for real estate companies to showcase their commitment to sustainability and make a significant contribution to combatting climate change. Through initiatives such as this competition, Sweden continues to lead the way in sustainable practices and inspire companies worldwide to adopt environmentally friendly measures.
