“We must leave the table when respect is no longer served. » It is with these words that Mamadou Sakho began his text this Thursday announcing his departure from Montpellier. Away from the group since the altercation which opposed him to his coach Michel Der Zakarian last week during training, the former international defender of PSG therefore communicated himself on his departure, thus anticipating his club.

While he was not part of the group which will travel to the Parc des Princes this Friday to face PSG, Sakho published a message on his social networks.

“Following the incident which took place last week and for which I decline all responsibility, I have decided to end my collaboration with the Montpellier Hérault Sport Club,” he wrote.

The Incident that Sakho speaks of is an altercation with his coach which was initially described as a violent attack on his part towards the latter. It all started with raised voices, as happens dozens of times every year in L1 locker rooms.

The coach, disappointed by the result of his players in Nantes (0-2), scolds them verbally. Sakho, who hardly plays anymore, points out that the reproaches do not concern him. The tone rises and Sakho leaves the session. Just afterwards, Der Zakarian, whose sanguine temperament is known, approaches his player furiously. He finally rested his forehead against hers.

At this moment, the two men grab each other by the collar. And Der Zakarian then pushes Sakho away with his hand then slips and falls to the ground. The matter was supposed to stay there, in the silence of the locker room. Since then, the player has returned to training. But the rift between the two men was great. Der Zakarian therefore decided to remove him from his group sportingly. Sakho, at the end of his contract next June and who has only played six minutes this season, therefore took the initiative of the total break.
