After the rain, not the good weather. While storm Ciaran hit the north-western quarter of France on Wednesday and Thursday, causing the death of two people and extensive material damage, a new depression is expected in France this weekend. His name: Domingos.

This new depression, coming from North America, will also approach the French coast from the west. It risks causing “strong gusts” of wind on the coasts of Charente-Maritime, Vendée, Loire-Atlantique, but also on the coastal departments of Manche.

According to initial estimates, this storm would affect the country from Saturday afternoon and the bad weather should fade away on Sunday morning. Météo France specifies that there is still uncertainty about this meteorological episode, and that details will be given by Saturday.

“More classic phenomena which can still have impacts”

Regardless, Storm Domingos is expected to be less severe than Ciaran. “We arrive at more classic phenomena, but which can still have impacts,” François Gourand, forecaster at Météo France, argued on Thursday during a press briefing.

While waiting for Domingos this weekend, other disruptions are expected on Friday. Six departments are placed on orange alert: Pas-de-Calais (floods), Gironde (wind), Pyrénées-Atlantiques (rain-flood, waves-submersion), Landes (wind, rain-flood, waves-submersion ), Haute-Corse (wind, rain-flood) and Corsica-du-Sud (wind, floods, rain-flood, waves-submersion).
