6th stage Tour du Faso 2023: Daumont strengthens his yellow jersey with a 26-second lead

Koudougou, Nov. 1, 2023 (AIB) – The stage victory on Wednesday in Koudougou, by Paul Daumont during the 6th stage of the Tour du Faso, consolidates his yellow jersey with a lead of 26 seconds over Belgian Wouters Rutger.

Paul Daumont completed the course in 2h59mn01, an average speed of 40.421km/h. He beat Moroccan Achraf Ed-Doghmy and Belgian Heylen Wannes to the finish line in a massive sprint.

Today’s stage was not very eventful. Paul Daumont went to mark his direct opponents to control the race, leaving the way clear for certain riders to compete in the intermediate sprints. At the first hot spot in Kokologo, it was the Burkinabè Soumaïla Sorgho (Western regional team), Bamassi Soulama (Central regional team) and Daouda Soulama (Western regional team) who won.

The second hot spot in Sabou was the work of the Ivorian Souleymane Traoré, followed by the Cameroonian Jérémie Sadikou Kossoko and the Burkinabè Moucaïla Rawendé.

“Today the objective was to control escapes and ensure that a dangerous person cannot get out. We had to save our strength. But since the favorites started to attack, we had to react,” explained yellow jersey Paul Daumont.

He therefore won in Koudougou and kept the three important jerseys of the race: the yellow jersey for the time classification, the green jersey for the points and the pink one for the hot points.

The race continues tomorrow Thursday November 2 with the 7th Koudougou-Boromo stage, 122,800km long.
