A company called Zephalto plans to launch balloons from France with a six-hour experience starting in 2024. Passengers will return to Earth after dining in the unique space landscape.

Zephalto, a France-based startup, is just one of the companies that want to launch balloons into space recently.

Zephalto will take off from France and offer star views to its passengers as they dine in a giant balloon that will rise to an altitude of 25 kilometers in a six-hour round trip.

The space tourism company was planning to launch its first flight in 2025, but has now scheduled it for the end of 2024.

Tickets will be sold for 120 thousand euros

Customers who want to dine in space with the balloon will need to purchase tickets that will be available for pre-order soon. It was announced that the sales price of the tickets will be 120 thousand euros.

The balloon capsule, which has a large panoramic window and can carry six passengers and two pilots, will rise at a speed of 4 m/s and take one and a half hours to reach the summit altitude.

Once there, passengers will enjoy three hours at the edge of space, above 98 percent of the atmosphere and twice as high as average commercial airliners.

In addition, passengers will enjoy a luxurious culinary experience with dishes prepared by famous French chefs and exclusive wines.

Not only that, the luxurious journey in the stratospheric balloon can be accompanied by music, depending on the passenger’s preference, or a completely silent journey can be preferred.

There is no age limit or special training required to board the balloon flight; As long as the person is fit to fly in an airplane, they will be able to travel in balloons named Céleste.

Although the journey may be preferable for many space enthusiasts, passengers will not have the chance to try zero gravity on this trip.

Unlike Jeff Bezos’s Blue Origin rocket, which took passengers more than 100 km above the Earth’s surface, gravity will not be lost in Céleste balloons.

60 flights will be made annually

Zephalto plans to make 60 flights a year and markets itself as a less impactful way to see the Earth from above.

Fears have grown that some space tourism ventures, including companies such as Blue Origin and Virgin Galactic, could have a bigger impact on global warming than the aviation industry.

In response, Zephalto says it offers the least polluting way to reach the stratosphere, using a balloon filled with helium and hydrogen instead of ‘the powerful greenhouse gases created by rockets’.

On the other hand, Zephalto is not the only company hoping to offer such initiatives. Its rival, the American company Space Perspective, also plans to start balloon flights starting next year.
