The Germans and British still have island fever!

The number of holidaymakers on Mallorca is rising and rising and is climbing to a record high. This year, 10.7 million travelers came to the Balearic island between January and September alone. As the “National Statistics Institute (INE)” reports, this means an increase of 8.9 percent compared to the previous year. The sister islands of Ibiza and Formentera were visited by 3.3 million people (7.8 percent more) and Menorca by 1.5 million (3.9 percent more) in the same period.

A total of 15.6 million holidaymakers came to the archipelago, of which 12.5 million came from abroad. 60 percent of visitors to the Balearic Islands were German and British. The number of German vacationers rose by 5.9 percent compared to the previous year. Incredible figures for the Germans’ favorite island, even though prices for hotels and flights rose by ten percent during the season.
