A mycosis caused by a fungus that causes skin lesions has advanced in some states in Brazil: it is sporotrichosis, which can affect cats, dogs and humans. According to the Ministry of Health, cases have increased by 260% in Rio de Janeiro in the last decade. This year, between January and September, Maceió recorded 227 cases in humans. But the numbers are also growing in other states, such as São Paulo and Minas Gerais. What is sporotrichosis? What are the symptoms like in cats and dogs? How does transmission to humans happen?
