United Arab Emirates: Assistance to the families of Indians killed in the drone attack – Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The Union Ministry of External Affairs Jaisang has said that the families of the two Indians killed in the drone strike in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will be provided with the necessary assistance.

A drone strike last Monday targeted a government oil depot near the Abu Dhabi International Airport in the United Arab Emirates. Three oil tanks in the warehouse exploded. Two Indians and one Pakistani were killed in the incident. Six were injured, including two Indians. Houthi clerics operating in Yemen claimed responsibility for the attack.

In this case, the Indians who lost their lives in the attack have been identified as Iruva Yao. However, the Indian embassy in Abu Dhabi did not release their details.

In an interview to the National Daily, Indian Ambassador to the UAE Sanjay Sudhi assured that the Government of India would extend necessary assistance to the families of the two deceased Indians.

In a tweet posted by Union Foreign Minister Jaishankar, he said, ‘The UAE Foreign Ministry contacted me and expressed condolences for the loss of lives of Indians. I told him that India would support the UAE in dealing with such unacceptable acts. The Indian embassy officials there are working with the UAE authorities to provide full support to the families of the Indians who lost their lives in the attack.

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia has condemned the attack. He expressed his condolences to the victims and wished the injured a speedy recovery.

Speaking in connection with the Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Syed in Abu Dhabi, US Secretary of State Anthony Blingen said the United States condemned the terrorist attack on a populated area.

Saudi Arabia is carrying out military operations against Iranian-backed Houthi clerics in Yemen. The UAE is also part of the Saudi-led military alliance.
