Another 599 foreigners were authorized by authorities to leave the region of Gaza Strip, this Saturday, 4th, following an agreement between Israel, Egypt and Hamas. Brazilians awaiting authorization to leave the location, however, were not included on the list for the fourth consecutive time. Among those released are 386 citizens from the United States, 112 from the United Kingdom, 51 from France, and 50 from Germany. Since the start of the departure of foreigners from the Gaza Strip, around 2,200 people have been allowed to leave the territory through the Rafah crossing, on the border with Egypt. According to Itamaraty, a group of around 30 nationals and immediate family members are awaiting withdrawal from the Gaza Strip. They remain sheltered in the towns of Khan Younis and Rafah, close to the border.
As the Jovem Pan website showedthe Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mauro Vieira, stated that Brazilians who are in the Gaza Strip will be repatriated by next Wednesday, the 8th. According to him, this was the promise made by Israeli Chancellor Eli Cohen, in a conversation that took place this Friday, the 3rd. “I had a telephone conversation… It was the fourth I had with the Israeli Foreign Minister, Eli Cohen. He gave me guarantees that, by Wednesday, all Brazilians who are in Gaza will be able to leave through the Rafah crossing. Therefore, they will have access, already provided by the Brazilian Embassies, both Ramallah and Egypt, to the airport where the Brazilian Air Force plane is located, which will bring them to Brazil”, stated the Brazilian chancellor, in a conversation with the press.
