On July 23, the elections gave a different result than expected by the vast majority of polls: the PP won, but even with Vox it did not have a majority for the investiture. Except for an almost impossible PP-PSOE consensus, there were only two scenarios left: a difficult pact between the PSOE and the entire independence movement, including Puigdemont, or new elections on January 14, with which Spain would live for many months with a government in office.
