The affair could have taken a completely different turn. A 42-year-old man was on trial this Friday at the Senlis court (Oise) for acts committed this Tuesday, Halloween day, in the small town of Maysel. While a procession made up of children had set off, the defendant, in the car, accompanied by his son, could not bear to be slowed down by the parade and began to insult and threaten elected officials. , while adopting dangerous behavior with his vehicle, in the middle of the crowd.

Tried for violence against a person holding public authority, repeated death threats and insulting a person holding public authority, the defendant requested a postponement of his hearing in order to prepare his defense. He will be judged on December 11.

The mayor tries to control him

It is around 5:30 p.m. this Tuesday in Maysel where, as in many other towns, a procession of little monsters and their companions sets off to ask for candy from the inhabitants of the town. Around twenty children take part in the event, secured by a broom car which aims to block traffic. When suddenly, a motorist arriving alongside the procession is determined not to wait.

After several horn blasts, various insults and behavior on the road considered worrying, elected officials of the town, including the mayor, Hervé Lefez, intervened to ask him to make a U-turn. Not enough to impress the driver who would then have continued his insults towards the elected officials.

“I’m going to kill you all,” he reportedly said against them. Hervé Lefez, municipal police director by profession, would then have been afraid to see the driver leave while children were in front of the vehicle.

He therefore tried to control the individual who was getting out of his car to deliver a violent punch to the elected official. The driver’s son, aged around fifteen, also went out to try to hit an elected official who managed to overpower him. This is not a first for the mayor of Maysel who was injured in 2021 while questioning the author of an urban rodeo.

According to the legal procedure, “no harm was done to the motorist and his son” who, after these events, fled, not without continuing to make death threats. More surprisingly, both then went to the Mouy gendarmerie, explaining that they had suffered acts of gratuitous violence from unidentified people who had taken them out of their vehicle.

This will allow the gendarmes to make the link with the Maysel episode and to apprehend the father of the family. If the prosecution had requested his placement in pre-trial detention, the defendant was placed under judicial supervision, including a ban on appearing in Maysel.
