This Saturday night was Grêmio on the field at the Arena, in a game valid for the 32nd round of the Brazilian Championship. Tricolor faced Bahia, in front of more than 40 thousand Grêmio fans present at the stadium, and won by a score of 1-0, with a goal scored by Suárez in the second half.

The victory of coach Renato Portaluppi’s team placed the Club in second place on the competition’s leaderboard, with 56 points achieved in 32 matches.

The opening 45 minutes were busy, with the teams competing a lot for the ball in midfield. Bahia started the match by scoring strongly and Tricolor tried to infiltrate the attack. When the clock hit 6 minutes, the Gremistas threatened with a play by Bruno Uvini and Suárez, when the defender served the attacker, who tried the pass, but ended up with Gabriel Xavier cutting. Some time later, the chance came from a dead ball: Reinaldo took a free kick from the midfielder, sending it straight towards the goal, but into the hands of goalkeeper Marcos Felipe.

Grêmio continued to look for the attacking field and threatened on two new opportunities: at 21′, Villansati worked with João Pedro Galvão, who ended up blocked by David Duarte. Soon after, the clearest chance came from the feet of Reinaldo, who received it from Suárez and filled his foot, finishing on goal, but the Bahian archer made a good save.

At 31′, coach Renato Portaluppi’s team tried with a shot from the left looking for Suárez inside the area – the attacker shared with the marker and ended up falling, but nothing was signaled. In response, Bahia immediately launched a counterattack: Cauly played with Thaciano and tried to beat the Tricolor defense, but nothing happened there.

In the final stretch, the visitors put a ball on the post: Cauly received it inside the area and finished, hitting the crossbar. Grêmio tried with JP Galvão, who invaded the area and rolled it back to Suárez, but David Duarte deflected the striker’s shot, sending it across the baseline.

For the second half, Tricolor returned with two changes: Ferreira and Galdino took the places of JP Galvão and Bruno Uvini. The opening moments saw greater chances from the opponent, who only failed to score in the 4th minute, thanks to a great save from Gabriel Grando. In the play, Everaldo received a pass, beat the marking and finished, forcing the Grêmio archer to fly to spray the goal.

However, Grêmio’s response came after ten minutes, when Suárez was thrown into the area, he tried to finish first time, but the ball bounced on the pitch. Even so, the Uruguayan managed to send it towards the goal, but goalkeeper Marcos Felipe held on.

The Bahia team arrived on two new occasions: first, Everaldo shot from distance, for another save by Gabriel Grando. Then, it was Cauly’s turn to send with his left leg, but he stopped again at the tricolor archer.

It was in the 24th minute that Tricolor opened the scoring with top scorer Luis Suárez. The play started with Lucas Besozzi, who beat the marking and gave a beautiful pass to the Uruguayan who shot hard at goal – the ball even hit the post and ended up in the back of the net.

Bahia was not far behind and tried to equalize the score with Gabriel Xavier, who sent a bomb, forcing Gabriel Grando to save for the Grêmio fans, Gabriel Xavier sent a bomb and demanded another great save from Grando.

The final stretch of the game continued with a lot of competition, with some moves from the visitors, such as Biel finishing on two occasions, but nothing that interfered with the score. The victory of coach Renato Portaluppi’s team secured the three points, placing the Club in second place on the competition’s leaderboard, with 56 points achieved in 32 matches.
