Tyson Foods Recalls 30,000 Pounds of Dino-Shaped Chicken Nuggets Due to Metal Contamination

New York, CNN — Tyson Foods, the world’s second-largest meat processor, is voluntarily recalling approximately 30,000 pounds of its dino-shaped chicken nuggets after several consumers reported finding small metal pieces in their patties. The recall was announced on Saturday by the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service.

The affected products are 29-ounce plastic bag packages containing frozen, fully cooked fun nuggets breaded shaped chicken patties. These bags have a “best if used by” date of September 4, 2024, and were sold in Alabama, California, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia, and Wisconsin.

Although there has been one minor oral injury associated with the consumption of the nuggets, the USDA has not received any other reports of harm so far. However, officials are concerned that consumers may still have bags of the recalled “fun nuggets” in their freezers. They advise anyone who does to immediately discard or return the product.

Tyson Foods has advised purchasers and consumers of the recalled nuggets to cut the UPC and date code from the packaging and contact them through their dedicated phone line at 1-855-382-3101.

CNN reached out to Tyson Foods for comment but did not receive an immediate response.

Consumers are urged to check their freezers and ensure they do not have the affected product. The USDA advises anyone who has consumed the recalled nuggets and experienced any adverse reactions to seek medical attention.

Tyson Foods is taking this voluntary recall seriously and working closely with the USDA to investigate the source of the contamination. Consumers are encouraged to stay updated on the latest developments regarding the recall.
