Kovid third wave in the state; Omikron is not trivial: Minister Veena George | Kerala | Deshabhimani

by time news

Thiruvananthapuram: Health Minister Veena George has said that the state is facing the third wave of Kovid. Unlike waves one and two, the extreme wave occurred at the very beginning of the third wave. Kovid cases are on the rise due to the Delta and Omicron variants. The vast majority of people who suffer from omicron lose their sense of smell and taste. The Minister therefore requested that more attention be paid.

Omicron has five times the diffusion capacity of Delta. Institutions need to ensure that clusters do not form. 1508 health workers are currently Kovid positive. Health workers have been advised to be extra vigilant. Health workers should take the booster dose as soon as possible.

Unnecessary hospital visits should be avoided. There should be only one person per patient. There are 3107 ICUs in the government sector and 7488 ICUs in the private sector. The minister said there were 2293 ventilators in the government sector and 2432 ventilators in the private sector.

Kovid must confront extremism politically and partisanly. The health department had issued a warning at each stage. Delta and Omicron variants are responsible for the spread of the disease in the state. The propaganda that the Omicron variant is trivial is false. Caution should be exercised against omicron. Do not count on it coming. It has five or six times more expansion capacity than the Delta. The drug shortage in the state is a false propaganda. The minister also said that monoclonal antibody treatment was not effective for omicron.
