Supreme Court Directs Tamil Nadu Government to Grant Permission for RSS Rally on November 19 and 26

New Delhi: The Supreme Court has intervened in the controversy surrounding the RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) rally in Tamil Nadu and directed the state government to grant permission for the procession on either November 19 or 26.

Earlier, when the RSS movement sought permission to hold the rally in Tamil Nadu, the state police had denied approval. In response, the RSS approached the Madras High Court, challenging the decision. The High Court, taking into account the conditions imposed by the Supreme Court in a previous ruling, allowed the procession to take place.

Unsatisfied by the High Court’s verdict, the Tamil Nadu government appealed to the Supreme Court against the permission granted by the lower court. The appeal came up for hearing in the Supreme Court on November 6.

During the hearing, the Tamil Nadu government argued that they should have the authority to decide the route for the rally. The government claimed that they were requesting for permission to pass through areas where mosques and other places of worship were located.

In response to this contention, the judge ordered the RSS organization to provide detailed information regarding the starting and ending points of the rally by November 9.

Finally, the Supreme Court ruled that the Tamil Nadu government must grant permission for the RSS rally to be held on either November 19 or 26.

This development comes as a relief to the RSS, who had faced opposition from the state government and legal hurdles in organizing their rally. The decision by the Supreme Court is expected to provide clarity and pave the way for the smooth conduct of the rally.

The RSS, a right-wing nationalist organization, has a significant following in Tamil Nadu and the rally is expected to attract a large number of participants. The organization, known for its strong ideological stance, aims to spread its message and mobilize support through such rallies.

As per the court’s order, the Tamil Nadu government will now have to facilitate the rally and ensure the safety and security of all participants. Details regarding the route for the procession will need to be worked out in consultation with the RSS organization.

With the Supreme Court’s intervention, it is hoped that the rally can take place without any further legal or administrative hindrances. The November 19 or 26 dates will now serve as a platform for the RSS to showcase its strength and rally its supporters in Tamil Nadu.
