This Sunday afternoon (5), Flamengo went to Arena Castelão and beat Fortaleza 2-0, in the 32nd round of the Brasileirão. Pedro and Luiz Araújo scored the goals of the Red and Black triumph away from home. With the result, Mais Querido scored 53 points and remained in sixth place.

The game
The match started off quite studiedly, with Flamengo trying to maintain possession of the ball in the offensive field. On the other hand, Fortaleza forced a direct transition from defense to attack with long passes. At 12′, Pedro received the ball in the area and finished. The ball hit defender Britez’s hand, but the referee only awarded a corner.

As the minutes passed, the game became more open. The red and black team looked to attack, while Fortaleza recovered the ball and tried to counterattack. At 44′, Mengão opened the scoring at 44′. Luiz Araújo recovered the ball in attack and Filipe Luiz passed it to Pedro at the edge of the area. The center forward dominated and hit the goalkeeper’s counter: 1-0.

In stoppage time, Rubro-Negro almost expanded. Cebolinha advanced from the left, cleared Britez and Tinga’s marking, and finished left-handed for João Ricardo to save. Shortly after the move, the referee whistled the end of the first half.

Back in the second half, Fortaleza put pressure on Flamengo in the opening minutes. With a more retreating stance, the red-black team bet on counterattacks to reach the second goal.

At 19′, Luiz Araújo made a good move and reversed the ball to Arrascaeta, who crossed at the second post for Matheuzinho to hit the first time out.

In the final stretch, Fortaleza went up to try to equalize, but Fla was well positioned defensively. At 41′, Mengão’s relief goal came! Ayrton Lucas linked up with Filipe Luís, and crossed low for Everton Ribeiro to screen the ball for Luiz Araújo to finish first into the net: 2-0.

With the victory, Rubro-Negro reached 53 points and remains in sixth place in the Brasileirão

Next appointment
Rubro-Negro returns to the field on Wednesday (8) to face Palmeiras, at 9:30 pm, at Maracanã. The game is valid for the 33rd round of the Brazilian Championship.
