Thousands of Afghans facing deportation in Pakistan are flocking back to Afghanistan.

Islamabad has set a deadline of November 1 for undocumented Afghan migrants to leave Pakistan.

The UN has warned that this decision by the Pakistani government could result in “serious” human rights violations.

According to official information as of November 2, 165,000 Afghans have already left the territory of Pakistan.

The Pakistani government has decided to deport a total of 1.7 million migrants from the country. More than 1 million of them are Afghans. They moved to Pakistan after the Taliban came to power in Afghanistan in August 2021.

It is also reported that the Pakistani police has started detaining and forcibly deporting Afghans still remaining in the country since November 1. Dozens of storage points have been created for this purpose. The report says that on the other side of the border, the Taliban have established temporary checkpoints for the reception of refugees.

On November 2, more than a hundred Afghans were detained in a police raid in Karachi, and 425 in the neighboring Quetta.
