Minister of Finance Özdemir Berova was the guest of the Her Şey Masada program broadcast on Kıbrıs TV and answered Halil Esendağlı’s questions.

Stating that they will take income-increasing measures in 2024, Minister Berova announced that legal changes are on the agenda for these.

Berova said, “We are making legal changes that will increase our income sources,” and explained that they aim to increase the income from casinos, foreign exchange offices and insurance.
Minister Berova said, “The law on games of chance is in the parliament. We will pass it. In addition, a change in the law regarding the Currency Exchange Office regarding foreign exchange offices is in the parliament. “We will take steps to increase our revenues in this field in January,” he said.

Reverse;

“We aim to increase the ratio of revenues from casinos to the state coffers. We also want to increase revenue from foreign exchange offices. We also have a similar study for insurance. “We sent the law to the Insurers Association, we are waiting for a response.” He stated:

No preparation for crypto!

Minister Berova stated that they do not have any work on the subject of crypto money, which has created a lot of controversy, and said: “The issue of crypto money is a very separate issue and will not be discussed right now. Because the law regarding crypto management exists only in Malta. In practice, they could not implement this. The law was discussed for a long time in Turkey, but nothing came of it. The European Union told member states to take the measures they can to regulate these. “While some of our friends demand legal measures to be taken on this issue, another group is talking about a general regulation,” he said.

Casino ban for citizens!

In response to the question of whether there is a regulation for TRNC citizens to enter casinos, Minister Berova stated that there is no such will in the public opinion. Berova said, “For now, there is no will for TRNC citizens to enter casinos. “There is no such will in the public opinion, nor has such a will been formed in political parties, including our own party,” he said.
