Former gospel singer Priscilla Alcantara announced that she has decided to change her stage name, using only her first name. The artist’s intention is to mark a new phase of her musical career, completely focused on the secular.
Priscilla Alcantara has been promoting the change of artistic name on social media, and recorded a video teaser to announce his new album, in which he simulates a phone call explaining what he wants for his career from now on:
“Friend, I think it’s the following: in relation to everything on the album, I think it has to be a lot of… I don’t know, I feel like I’m going to have to reset everything I’ve done artistically so far. I think this is the feeling we have to bring to the public. A reset in their heads, of everything they’ve known so far, as Priscilla Alcantara. I don’t even know, in this case, if Alcantara will make more sense, you know?”, says the former gospel singer.
In a text statement, the artist states that she is very grateful to the fans of her old phases, but that she sees herself as a diamond being polished, with the past phases being a period in which she would be a rough stone that now it is showing the refinement of your talent.
“It seems like we are in the process of evolution, life is polishing, opening our facets, then more and more light comes in, and the shine of who we really are increases, we are a diamond in brutal cutting, and each diamond is unique, there is no point in expecting one to be like the other”, he wrote.
Despite the speech that points to a forgetfulness of the past, the lyrics of her new song, Correntes, denote a message from those who are still complaining about those who disagree with them:
“They gagged me thinking they were going to shut me up / They forgot that I don’t need words to speak / I start where they say is my end / They want to destroy me / They might even try / I suggest you join me, because they won’t stop me” , says an excerpt from the new song.
