Blessed Francis also organized popular catechetical missions in the Balearic Islands, as well as those he already did in the peninsula, thereby extending devotion to the Blessed Virgin and catechetical training through what he called “Schools of Virtue.” Particularly, he put special effort into the catechesis of adults, to whom he dedicated one of his writings, the Catechesis of the virtues. Palau had discovered a huge number of adults who had not received any sacraments or who did not have them complete.
In 1870 he traveled to Rome to participate in the First Vatican Council. Francis had a plan in hand: the formation of an order of exorcists. In fact he managed to reach a document with his ideas to all the council fathers who spoke Spanish. Unfortunately, the project did not prosper due to the interruption of the Council.
