The German construction company Hochtief, controlled by the Spanish company ACS, had a net profit of 380.9 million euros until September, 7.2% more than last year, after focusing on growth areas such as high technology, energy transformation and sustainable infrastructure.

Hochtief reported today that sales rose between January and September to 20,362 million euros (+6.5% or +1% adjusted for exchange rates). Business in North America and Europe and those of the Abertis concessionaire, in which Hochtief has 20%, are going much better.

Presenting the results, CEO Juan Santamaría said that “the positive evolution of the main figures was driven by the focus on the rapidly growing areas of high technology, energy transformation and sustainable infrastructure.” This strategy has given Hochtief “a sharp increase in order intake, higher profits and a permanent improvement in the group’s risk profile,” according to his CEO.

Operating profit rose between January and September to 681.6 million euros (+10.3%), which gives an operating profitability margin on sales of 3.3% (3.2% a year earlier). For its part, order intake skyrocketed in the first three quarters to 27,845 million euros (+33.4%).

Hochtief confirms that it foresees a net operating profit this year between 510 and 550 million euros, a result subject to market conditions (522 million euros in 2022).
