The INA wants to bring the television events of the past up to date. What better way to do this than to rebroadcast “The Fan School”, “The 8 p.m. games” or “The investigations of Commissioner Maigret”? From Wednesday November 8, they will be broadcast on Pluto TV at the same times as 50 years ago.

In recent years, the guardian of French audiovisual treasures, the INA (National Audiovisual Institute), has begun a strategic transformation. Under the leadership of its CEO Laurent Vallet, the institute is no longer content with archiving previous images and sounds, but seeks to bring them to life by finding a new audience for them.

Social networks, new shows, YouTube channel… Newness is good, but what about seniority? The challenge of the INA 70 channel, which will be broadcast free of charge on the Pluto TV streaming platform, is to provide “access to a selection of programs, faithful to the original broadcast times, as close as possible to the lived experience by viewers of the time.

Among the programs announced are “The 8 p.m. Games” and its famous referee Maître Capello, the television plays from the show “Au théâtre ce soir”, the singing competition “L’École des fans” by Jacques Martin, the series “The Investigations of Commissioner Maigret” with Jean Richard, or the variety shows of Maritie and Gilbert Carpentier.

The INA thus hopes to allow “the young generation to discover cult programs”, broadcast at the same times for everyone, while young viewers are used to consuming on demand.

“Recreating television from the 1970s in 2023 is a daring challenge, but at the heart of our mission of transmitting popular culture, particularly between generations,” commented Antoine Bayet, editorial director of the INA.
