In a statement sent to the press, the ministry outlines the conclusions of the inspection mission launched following the revelation of this letter, at the end of September, by BFM-TV. This standard letter, received by several families on May 4, 2023, was threatening towards the parents of students.
“What emerges from the work of the mission is that this letter, in these terms, should never have been sent to this family, in this situation”indicates the ministry, which specifies that “this standard letter has its origins in the procedure put in place by the Versailles academy after the assassination of Samuel Paty to strengthen support for agents subject to threats”. The procedure involves sending a “letter of disapproval” to families when threats exist, but in this case, “nothing justifies that it was addressed to certain families, including Nicolas’s parents”we indicate.

This error affected Nicolas’s parents but also another family residing in Yvelines, who had filed a complaint against X in the spring for sexual touching committed by an after-school leader on their 11-year-old daughter. These letters sent “unjustified” are linked “the fragility of this procedure”continues the ministry, which deplores a “lack of distinction between different types of threats”a lack of communication with departmental services and “the postulate, consequence of the previous point, that the facts denounced by the parents have not been established”. National education also deplores a « gradation » in these letters of disapproval “randomly implemented”.

When the mail affair broke out at the end of September, Gabriel Attal announced an audit in all the rectorates, on all the harassment situations reported last year.
