Watan Al-Youm: Prime Minister Bisher Al-Khasawneh confirmed on Tuesday that Jordan is following the rule of gradualism with many of the measures and means it possesses that are on the table when Palestinian rights are infringed, and before that, Jordanian national security and its foundations.
Al-Khasawneh said during his meeting with the Senate that Jordan refuses to create any conditions that impose or encourage the forced migration of Palestinians in occupied Jerusalem or the West Bank, considering this a red line for Jordan.
He added that Jordan will not allow it to be bypassed because it “dissolves the Palestinian issue and threatens Jordanian national security.”
He pointed out that the immunity granted to Israel in its violation of international law and international humanitarian law and its sinful and continuing attacks on Palestinian civilians must end; International and humanitarian law and moral values prohibit and criminalize the targeting of civilians, and the life of a Palestinian is no less important than the life of any human being anywhere else.
He pointed out that the UN Security Council failed to issue a ceasefire resolution and deliver humanitarian aid within the framework of the Security Council’s primary jurisdiction under the provisions of the Charter to maintain international peace and security, which is the inherent inherent jurisdiction of the UN Security Council, and because of the use of the veto power of permanent members of the Council. Which failed the international draft resolution.
He pointed out that Jordan led an effort, under the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II, to resort to a mechanism that had been adopted by the United Nations in 1950, as the mechanism was based on Article 10 of the Charter at that time.
He continued that the mechanism arose in the midst of the Korean crisis when the Security Council failed, due to the use of the veto power, to take any decisions to restore international peace and security due to the veto power, as the General Assembly took a decision in which it said that although the original jurisdiction rests with the Security Council, it is In exceptional cases in which the Security Council finds itself unable or unwilling to act to maintain international peace and security, the General Assembly may take measures in this regard in the field of preservation.
