The PSG captain and Vitinha answered questions from our colleagues at Canal+ after the defeat in Milan on Tuesday in the Champions League.
Marquinhos (defender and captain of PSG, after the 2-1 defeat in Milan ) : «We know the quality of the Milan team, we must not neglect it. It was a high-level match, we know how hard it is to play here. We started well, we controlled and did what was necessary. Afterwards, Milan exploited their strengths, moving quickly forward, that’s where we suffered, they managed to score. Their second goal changes the game… We were good at that moment, not in great difficulty. But they exploited their strengths, we know the quality of Giroud on crosses… The first goal, we were a little open, we tried to press and they took the spaces. Milan regrouped behind after the second goal. We had difficulty finding space. Before, they were more open. Afterwards, we know the Italian school, they know how to defend very well and they know what to do. It was Milan who defended better. The qualification ? We knew the difficulty of the group (the four teams stand in three points, Editor’s note). We knew it was very important to come and win here, we didn’t do it, but we must not give up. Everything is within reach, we know that we can do great things, first of all qualifying for the 8th is the most important thing. And then manage the rest, improve ourselves externally.» (on Canal+)
Vitinha (PSG midfielder) : «It was a difficult match, in a big atmosphere. But that’s no excuse. We must do better. We didn’t manage to impose our game in the first quarter of an hour. And even afterwards, we got too involved in Milan’s game, with too little patience with the ball. It didn’t give us control. The second period? We wanted to score this second goal and bring the draw, we wanted to control. But Milan’s goal changes everything… Our way of playing must remain the same.
