Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel would assume “overall responsibility for security” in the Gaza Strip “for an indefinite period of time” after the end of the war with the extremist group Hamas and expressed readiness for “short pauses” in the fighting to facilitate the release of hostages.
