All about Samsung

Samsung began releasing more details this Wednesday (8) about its own AI model, Samsung Gauss. The South Korean giant’s ChatGTP will run locally on devices and will first be integrated into the company’s next high-end cell phone, the Galaxy S24, reveals the Korea Times.

O Samsung Gauss

The novelty was presented by Samsung in its own forum focused on artificial intelligence. The name was inspired by Carl Friedrich Gauss, the mathematician responsible for the “backbone of machine learning and AI”. The company’s AI model can generate and edit images, compose emails, summarize documents and even operate as a programming assistant.Leaked image of the Galaxy S24 (Image: reproduction/OnLeaks and SmartPrix)

An interesting factor is that Gauss can also be run locally and includes three tools: Samsung Gauss Language, Code and Image. The first is “a generative language model that increases work efficiency, facilitating tasks such as composing emails, summarizing documents and translating content,” Samsung said in press release.

Integration into the Galaxy S24 could be a purchase decision point for consumers, especially given the fact that Gauss can perform tasks on the device itself, that is, without relying on large cloud-based language models (such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT).

Launch

Samsung Gauss is currently being used internally for “employee productivity,” according to Samsung. It will be “expanded to a variety of applications to provide a new user experience in the near future.”

The company adds that it will begin adding generative AI functions to mobile devices starting in 2024.
