Mentor Sweden Hosts Tribute Evening With Queen Silvia

A moment of light and hope in the dark. On Tuesday, Mentor Sweden invited to a tribute evening to appoint the role model of the year, the school of the year, and the mentor of the year in the presence of Queen Silvia.

The tribute evening was held in Grünevaldsalen at Stockholm’s Konserthus and gathered around 150 young people, mentors, and business representatives. Since 1997, SEB has been one of the organization’s most important partners and was involved in making the event possible, which was characterized by both solemnity and heartwarming cheerfulness.

The highlight of the evening was the awarding of the Role Model of the Year, School of the Year, and Mentor of the Year awards.

Soccer goalkeeper Zećira Mušović, who plays for Chelsea and the Swedish national team, was named the Role Model of the Year. In the justification, it is said that “she uses her voice to actively inspire and support other young girls, by creating opportunities for them to dream”. Zećira Mušović sent a video greeting in which she expressed her gratitude and emphasized the importance of fighting for a society characterized by love, helpfulness, and team spirit.

Ulrika Areskog Lilja, head of Brand, Marketing & Communications at SEB, was on hand to hand out the School of the Year award. The School of the Year award went to Järvaskolan with the justification that “the school paves the way for its students by promoting knowledge, courage to test boundaries, and a tireless belief that dreams can come true”. The award was accepted by the principal Helya Riazat in the company of nine of her students.

Queen Silvia expressed her gratitude to be at the tribute night and listen to all the amazing, moving, and thought-provoking stories. She also thanked all the mentors and companies involved in the work. The Queen presented the Mentor of the Year award to Leonard Mazrekaj. In the justification, it is said that “he is a recurring mentor and important role model not only through Mentor Sweden but also as a student and teacher’s assistant at Svartedalsskolan in Gothenburg.”

The event was a heartwarming and inspiring evening, highlighting the importance of mentorship and support for young people. It showcased the positive impact mentors and schools have on shaping the next generation, and the significant role they play in creating a better society.
