End of the actors’ strike

The Hollywood actors’ strike came to an end after 118 days of strike. Before it, the longest strike had been in 1980 – it was 95 days. This Wednesday (8), the union that represents the category reached a provisional agreement with the studios, unanimously approved by the negotiating committee. The positive sign for the end of the strike came after a week in which negotiations stalled regarding the use of artificial intelligence in film, TV and streaming productions. The strike also demanded increases in minimum payments and a new revenue model in streaming. The union accepted at least a 7% increase – 2% above the increase received by the Writers Guild of America (WGA, screenwriters’ union) and the Directors Guild of America (DGA, directors’ union).
