While the hearings within the framework of the parliamentary commission of inquiry into the identification of failures within sports federations will end next week, leaving room for the drafting of the report of this investigation, the deputies see before them numerous key figures in French sport. Among them, Jean Lapeyre, legal director of the FFF, was received this Thursday morning at the National Assembly where he had to answer many things, in light of the various scandals which have rocked the 3F in recent months.

There was particular discussion, at length, of the former president of the federation Noël Le Graët and his sexist behavior, among others, which was singled out by several people during these hearings, including Brigitte Henriques. If Lapeyre assured that he had “never seen or witnessed sexist remarks during [ses] years at the Fédé”, he ended up admitting to “somewhat unusual relationships with women”, “a little clumsy or outdated” to Le Graët, who was received at the start of the week. “It was in the temperament, well in the character, of Noël Le Graët to have slightly unusual relationships with women. Yes, we knew that. We knew this for a long time but I would still add that we knew that it never exceeded certain limits. »

“From what I know and what was said, especially for the text messages, they were invitations to come and drink champagne or this kind of insistence. But no one who has been in this situation has ever come forward to say that he had gone far beyond. » Furthermore, if Le Graët like others had abdicated responsibility for reporting cases of violence, racism or others during their hearings, referring in particular to legal specialists, Lapeyre also kicked in: “Me it’s is sports legal exclusively. Reports are handled by HR or someone at the Amateur League. »

In a sometimes tense atmosphere, Lapeyre’s avoidance on these questions annoyed the deputies, who were offensive and reminded Lapeyre that he was speaking, like all the others, under oath. “The work we are doing is serious, we are not playing,” challenged Stéphane Buchou, the vice-president of the commission.

Among the subjects raised, Lapeyre notably confirmed the existence, according to him, of a conflict of interest concerning the presence in the staff of the French football team of Bachir Nehar, steward who also holds a position in a player agency. “Failing to no longer take him because he was wanted by the coach. HR terminated his employee contract and he works as a contractor, Lapeyre said. But I don’t know who made the final decision once the HR services tried to regularize the situation as best they could (…) I was asked what I thought of the situation. I said that this was not acceptable because it was a conflict of interest in my eyes. »
