Elderly Women in Sweden Swindled Out of Valuables Worth Over a Million Kroner
Several cases of elderly women in Sweden being targeted and tricked out of their valuables have been reported. In Linköping, a woman in her 80s was duped into handing over jewelry worth over one million kroner to a man who claimed to be from the “security service”. The woman received a call and a visit from the man, who managed to persuade her to leave her valuable jewelry in his possession.
Similarly, in Eskilstuna, two women in their 80s fell victim to a similar scam. They were visited in their homes by unknown individuals who claimed that they would secure their valuables in bank safes. Unfortunately, the women were tricked into parting with their belongings.
These cases are being classified as gross fraud, indicating the severity of the scams. It serves as a reminder to be cautious and wary of individuals who approach with such claims, especially targeting vulnerable members of the community.
