San Salvador. During the plenary session this Tuesday, November 7, the deputies authorized with 67 votes to extend the Exception Regime, in force since March 27, 2022, for an additional 30 days.

By then, an atrocious violent attitude of the terrorist groups claimed the lives of some 80 innocent people, which motivated the establishment of the aforementioned regime, which will continue to be extended until not a single gang member is left free, the Cyan deputies and the Security Cabinet.

The state of exception has allowed, up to this moment, the capture of 73,800 terrorists and since then the country has experienced a new reality in terms of security, becoming the safest country in Latin America, the deputies of the cyan bench and of the parties that support the measures requested by the Executive.

Deputy Mauricio Ortiz indicated that “the gang phenomenon was so deeply rooted in the country that local and international media only saw it as an opportunity to release documentaries regarding these criminal groups.”

He added that “past governments gave the gangs total control of the territories because at that time the business of insecurity was profitable and they kept us that way for 30 years.” The results of the State of Exception and the Territorial Control Plan (PCT) are irrefutable, which is why it becomes necessary and important to promote these measures.
