Every weekend, the “Tsugi” web radio accompanies the “Libération” music notebook

The discovery: Aghiad, peace & love

Although he was born and raised in Paris, where he even became a doctor in political science, Aghiad Ghanem, whose father and mother are Syrian, had the opportunity to go many times to the source of his origins. This was before a civil war in 2011 dramatically engulfed the country and then, by extension, the entire world. It undoubtedly comes from this tragedy, the palpable melancholy which escapes from a project which bears his first name, and which welcomes on stage as on record two other musicians, Tom Hachez and Billy Sueiro. A trio already covered with honor this year (Inouïs winner of the Printemps de Bourges and Riffx public prize) even before the release of this exciting Liman EP.

Four insolent but gentle titles, as poetic as they are political, where mixing is king. It is sonic with Middle Eastern influences from Lebanese, Syrian or Egyptian pop from the 80s, playing leapfrog on the two important references common to the three companions: Alt-J and Radiohead. But this great mix also exists in texts sung by Ghanem and often even “choralized”, in French (with the participation of Vincent L’Anthoën), in Turkish and in Arabic. Expanding between post-rock, electronica and song, Aghiad’s sensitive universe resembles an intimate quest towards a finally peaceful world that tends towards harmony. It now remains to convince all the forces present. But the power of musical will can overthrow mountains of hatred. We believe in.

L-Raphaele Lannadère I’m waiting for you

At once pop, song, electronic, the personality of this haunted singer partly summed up in a single title. We must also add a poignant voice and melancholy-poetic texts that draw us in. Just beautiful.

Lemon Rose Your Eyes on Me

This Bordeaux quartet led by Ben from TH da Freak teleports us into 60s pop London, Kinks, Pretty Things version. Out of musical time. And why not ? The niche is less crowded than, randomly, rap.

Andéol Bagarre

At 23 you can listen to artists like Nick Drake, Overmono, Bashung, Radiohead, Kanye West or Nia Archives and manage to condense it all into a single title. No longer a big techno foot. Hat.

Tiga & Hudson Mohawke In Order 2

Exactly what we expected from their collaboration: the emphasis of Tiga combined with the shattering beats of Hudson Mohawke, all wrapped up in a sort of falsely zen rise. Captivating but weird.

Floating Points Birth4000

The Englishman Floating Points forgets his convoluted experiences for a while to attack the dancefloor head-on. The work of a modern Giorgio Moroder stuffed with EPO, its discoid title turns everything in its path upside down.
