The Maanain Baptist Church, in Fortaleza (CE), is experiencing a period of broad growth, and that is why it created a fundraising campaign to enable the purchase of land at the back of the current one, and to carry out its expansion.
The fundraising initiative was launched by the church’s pastor, Yago Martins, presenter of the channel Two Fingers of Theology. In a post on social media, he showed the reality of cults – in which half of the members are outside – and the plans to solve this problem.
The fundraising campaign targets R$300,000, the amount referring to the land that forms part of the church’s current property. If the acquisition is successful, the entrance to the temple will be changed to take advantage of the better located location, said Yago, who owns a channel with more than 800,000 subscribers on YouTube and has become one of the main pastors who talk about theology in video platform.
“Half of our church worships outside because it simply doesn’t fit in the building. Do you know the reason? Because our church has grown 7 times larger in recent years, but mainly among the poor people in our neighborhood”, introduced.
As most of the members are low-income families, the church’s budget is small: “No money for renovations. With a lot of effort and some heroism from the few in the community who have more resources, we are building a space where the parking lot used to be that can accommodate everyone.”
The investment is high and was only made possible by extraordinary offers: “An absurd amount of money for our reality, but soon we will all gather in the same space again. The current building will be small rooms for EBD, children’s worship and social work.”
“We are all very happy, but it created a new challenge: we ran out of parking. At the moment, we are renting a scrap yard next to the church and putting some cars in it. The others are on the street,” he added, explaining the reason for the need to purchase a new space, in the neighborhood. “We are trying to buy land for parking. It’s too much money for all of us, but if anyone wants to help, the pix is: [email protected]”, concluded the pastor.
