Six Killed in Head-on Collision Between Omni Bus and Government Bus near Vaniyambadi

Tragedy struck near Vaniyambadi in Tamil Nadu as a head-on collision between an omni bus and a government bus resulted in the death of six people, including two drivers and four passengers. The accident occurred at 4:45 am on the Vaniyampadi next to Chettiappanur Joint Hospital flyover.

The omni bus named ‘Highline’ had arrived from Bengaluru and was heading towards Chennai with passengers. On the other hand, the government express bus was traveling from Chennai to Bengaluru when it lost control and veered into the opposite lane, resulting in the fatal collision.

The impact of the collision was so severe that the front of both buses was completely crushed, seriously injuring more than 60 passengers onboard. A rescue operation was quickly launched, involving local residents, the Vaniyambadi taluk police, and the fire department.

Unfortunately, the drivers of both buses, Yemumalai and Nadeem, lost their lives in the accident. Additionally, four passengers, including Piros, Chitthar Ajeeth, Medavakkam Krithika, and Adyar Raji, also succumbed to their injuries.

The 64 seriously injured passengers were rushed to the Vaniyambadi Government Hospital, with 27 of them later transferred to the Vellore Kastamparai Government Hospital for further treatment.

The Vaniyambadi taluk police are currently investigating the incident, with Vellore DIG Muthuswamy and District SP Albert John conducting an investigation at the accident site.

During the rescue operation, tragedy struck the police team as well. A constable, Murali, who was involved in the rescue efforts, suffered a heart attack and passed away. His dedication to the rescue mission was evident, and his sudden demise has left his wife, son, and daughter mourning his loss.

The community is reeling from the devastating impact of this tragic accident and the loss of precious lives. The authorities are continuing their investigation into the cause of the collision, and efforts are underway to provide support to the victims and their families during this difficult time.
