In total we received 52.60 euros from 15 to 20 colleagues. Some people pulled out their wallets as soon as they were spoken to or apologized because they only had their cards with them. Some were specifically looking for a 5 or 10 euro note.
Some asked if it was really for the people of Gaza and how the money got there. There was also someone who didn’t donate because he was pro-Hamas. Others found Israel’s war unjust, but were also confused by government propaganda that supporting Palestine’s liberation struggle was “anti-Semitic” and by the call to support Israel’s war of annihilation.
One person expressly thanked them for the differentiated presentation of the situation. But he said: “I never donate, that’s a principle for me.” We replied: “Practical solidarity is an important weapon of the peoples and workers”. He has to think about the “never donate” thing again. There are still difficult times ahead of us. He thanked him again warmly and with a “We’ll see each other again.”
