Krems. ACS, which has been selling cables and wires for more than twenty years, in cooperation with the Public Employment Service (AMS), had written letters to 44 people suitable for work as warehouse staff. Eleven unemployed people were supposed to show up for the scheduled in-house work day, but only three candidates showed up on time, while the fourth was late.

Thereupon, company boss Daniel Hofstätter expressed his disappointment in an e-mail sent to Minister of Labor Martin Kocher, Governor Thomas Stelzer (ÖVP), AMS President Johannes Kopf and AMS Traun, and said that the situation was “very sad”.

AMS took action

An AMS employee responded to Hofstätter’s email by saying, “I am extremely sorry that a dedicated company like yours has to go through this disappointing experience. “We understand the great frustration your staff is experiencing and can assure you that we will determine appropriate consequences.” The employee stated that those who do not come to the introductory appointment may have the money they receive from AMS cut off for six weeks, and added: “The mandatory review of all existing legal regulations in the Unemployment Insurance Law will be applied here. “It is clear that this is unlikely to change the frustration for you and all parties involved,” he continued.

Michaela Billinger, President of AMS Traun, said in her statement to „Oberösterreichische Nachrichten„ that those who do not come despite a contracted invitation will face criminal consequences if they cannot show valid reasons such as a doctor’s report. It was specifically emphasized that if binding job placement initiatives are ignored, unemployment aid will be blocked for six weeks. (yenivatan.at)
