Orange Alert Triggers Holiday for Schools and Colleges in Puducherry and Karaikal

In light of the Orange Alert issued by the Chennai Meteorological Department, the District Collector has announced a holiday for schools and colleges in Puducherry and Karaikal tomorrow. This measure has been taken as a precautionary step due to the possibility of a low-pressure area forming over the Southeast Bay of Bengal.

The Chennai Meteorological Department has forecasted light to moderate rain in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal today. Additionally, 7 districts in Tamil Nadu are expected to receive very heavy rains, including Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagai, Pudukottai, and Ramanathapuram.

An orange alert has been issued for the coastal districts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal due to the heavy rain, with warnings in place for both today and tomorrow. Puducherry Minister A. Namachivayam has urged residents to remain vigilant and stay updated on the weather developments.

As the region prepares for the potential impact of the low-pressure area, authorities are taking proactive measures to ensure the safety of the public, including the closure of schools and colleges. Residents are advised to take necessary precautions and stay informed about the weather conditions to mitigate any potential risks.
