Agreement celebration event will take place on the 16th.
This Thursday (16), at 8:30 am, in the auditorium of the Public Defender’s Office of the State of Ceará, in Fortaleza/CE, the first edition of the Extension Course “Defensoras Populares” will be launched, held in partnership between the University of International Integration of Afro-Brazilian Lusofonia (Unilab), through the Interdisciplinary Center for Gender Studies (CIEG Dandara) and Public Defender’s Office of Ceará, through the Escola Superior da Defensoria Pública Geral do Estado do Ceará (ESDP).
The launch of the project will be attended by the Secretary of Access to Justice of the Ministry of Justice and Public Security of Brazil, Marivaldo Pereira de Castro, as well as other authorities from the justice system and Unilab.
The Interdisciplinary Center for Gender Studies (CIEG Dandara) is coordinated by the professor at the Institute of Humanities (IH/Unilab), Violeta Holanda.
About the project
The project aims to train women community leaders as multipliers of knowledge capable of identifying violations of rights and the means of guaranteeing access to justice, in order to, concretely, promote the implementation of active citizenship.
Effectively, it aims to disseminate knowledge about the organization of the State, the justice system, the obligation of public services and the right to citizenship, guaranteeing access to information; the empowerment of women leaders from the perspective of combating gender-based violence; the training to face a reality of so many naturalized injustices, being able to (re)cognize the violation of rights and the safest and most effective way to combat such a reality; promoting the implementation of the institutional defense function of “promoting the dissemination and awareness of human rights, citizenship and the legal system” (article 4, III of the National Organic Law of the Public Defender’s Office); bringing community leaders closer to the university environment, awakening their interest in access to education, as well as establishing partnerships between the university and society.
Cieg Dandara
Cieg Dandara is dedicated to interdisciplinary studies of gender relations in interface with ethnic-racial relations, regarding the construction of subjectivities, identities, memories, literary productions, formative processes, sociocultural and sociodiscursive practices about of femininities and masculinities, from a decolonial/post-colonial and intercultural perspective, in addition to proposing and carrying out actions in the area of gender and sexualities at Unilab.
