Accident causes major traffic delays on E20
Early Tuesday morning, a truck collided with the Allumbron, causing major traffic delays along the E20 in the direction of Gothenburg. The alarm about the accident came in to SOS shortly after 07:00, according to Fredrik Svedemyr, the police’s press officer.
“It is a truck that has collided with the Allumbron in some way. The vehicle must have had some type of excavator on the trailer. It is now on the hill and covers three lanes,” Svedemyr said.
The Swedish Transport Agency’s cameras are showing long queues along the E20 towards Gothenburg, and it is completely stopped in the northbound direction, Svedemyr added. The police have sent several patrols to help with traffic and are advising drivers to choose alternate routes if possible.
As of 8 o’clock, the situation at the site had been unchanged for about an hour, while the queues along the E20 remained at a standstill. “We are waiting for crane trucks and rescuers. The first crane looks like it will arrive very soon,” said Mahias Kapocs.
Fortunately, there are no reports of any injuries resulting from the accident. Motorists are urged to stay updated on the situation and consider alternate routes to avoid the traffic delays.
