Melbourne: Belarusian Sabalenka advanced to the third round of the Australian Open tennis series.
The first Grand Slam series of the current year, the Australian Open Tennis, is taking place in Melbourne, Australia. In the second round of the women’s singles, world number two Sabalenka of Belarus met Wang Jin of China. Sabalenka lost the first set 1-6. He then won the next two sets 6-4, 6-2. In the end, Sapalenka won the set 1-6, 6-4, 6-2 and advanced to the third round.
Mukuruja failed
World No. 3 Mukuruza of Spain fell to France’s Alice Cornet 3-6, 3-6 in straight sets. Britain’s Emma Radukanu lost 4-6, 6-4, 3-6 to Govinich (Montenegro). In another second round, Poland’s Sviatech defeated Sweden’s Peterson 6-2, 6-2.
In the other second round matches Vanrosova (Czech Republic), Pavlishenkova (Russia), Halep, Serstia (Romania), Mertens (Belgium) won.
Medvedev Aparam
In the second round of the men’s singles, the ‘No. 2’ player met Medvedev of Russia and Kyrias of Australia.
Medvedev won the first two sets 7-6, 6-4. The next set was won by Giarias 6-4. Medvedev won the 4th set 6-2. In the end, Medvedev won 7-6, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2.
Greece’s Diccibas defeated Argentina’s Bios. Britain’s Andy Murray fell to Japan’s Daniel 4-6, 4-6, 4-6 in the second round. The other second round matches were won by Rublev (Russia), Marin Cilic (Croatia), Benoit Peirce (France), Sinner (Italy), Marin Cilic (Croatia).
Sania Jodi Aparam
In the first round of the mixed doubles, India’s Sania Mirza and Rajiv Ram (USA) met Serbia’s Alexandra and Kaki. The Sania pair won 6-3, 7-6 in straight sets.
