Arizona Wildcats Dominate Southern After Early Hangover

The Arizona Wildcats may have been suffering from a bit of a sports hangover after their big win against Duke, but they quickly shook it off and dominated Southern in a blowout victory on Monday night.

The Wildcats, just three days removed from their huge win against Duke, found themselves trailing Southern early in the game. However, they quickly kicked it into another gear and ended up winning the game 97-59 at McKale Center.

Keshad Johnson led the way for the Wildcats, scoring a career-high 17 points, with 15 of those coming in the first half. Additionally, Motiejs Krivas and KJ Lewis each contributed 12 points, and three other Wildcats scored in double figures.

Despite a slow start and 23 turnovers, Arizona shot 53.4 percent for the game, made 28 of 36 free throws, and outrebounded Southern 54-24.

A 19-4 run in the first half gave the Wildcats a 35-23 halftime lead after trailing by as many as five early on. They then outscored Southern 60-18 over the next 20 minutes after trailing 17-12 with 11:13 left in the first half.

Arizona will look to carry this momentum into their next game against Belmont on Friday night at McKale.

The Wildcats may have had a bit of a hangover, but they quickly recovered and proved that they are a force to be reckoned with this season.
