The trimaran Maxi Edmond de Rothschild should cross the finish line around 10:00 p.m. in Martinique to reach the podium almost forty-eight hours after the winner.

In-Fort-de-France

Nearly forty-eight hours after the winner Banque Populaire of Armel Le Cléac’h and Sébastien Josse who crossed the finish line on Sunday shortly before midnight, Maxi Edmond de Rothschild is preparing to complete his crossing of the Atlantic with a third place up for grabs. Charles Caudrelier, winner of the Route du rhum last year, and his friend Erwan Israel are expected around 5 p.m. in the bay of Fort-de-France, or 10 p.m. in mainland France.

A slightly bitter podium for the duo who were aiming for victory but who suffered damage to the steering system last Friday. A tile which did not allow them to join in the fight for victory with the leading duo, Banque Populaire and SVR Lazartigue, especially since the trimaran suffered from other problems since the start but the nature of these- this has not been revealed. The two other Ultims in the race, Sodebo and Actual, are expected a little later, at 9 a.m. French time for the first and 12 p.m. for the second, still on Wednesday.

The southern paying option for the favorites in Imoca?

Among the IMOCAs, saying who is leading the race remains a thorny problem because the fleet is still split in two between two who chose to swing west very early, near the Azores, and the others, who preferred to follow the Africa before taking a route to the West in turn, once past the Canary Islands archipelago.

The supporters of the first option are currently taking advantage of their risky choice with Teamwork.net (Justine Mettraux-Julien Villon) at the top of the ranking but behind, the favorites (in the group of those who took the road further south) seem a little more reassured now about the merits of their strategy. For People (Thomas Ruyant-Moran Lagravière) occupies second place, at 66 miles and the provisional podium is completed by Paprec Arkéa (Yoann Richomme-Yann Eliès), at 67.6 miles, carried by the Trade Winds, these warm winds which lead to the Antilles.

«We have to be satisfied with being on the right floor and moving forward as we had planned. To the north, the road seems tougher than expected in the coming days, which will not be to their advantage», Analyzes Yoann Richomme who plans to arrive at the beginning of next week in Martinique.

In the category of small trimarans (Ocean Fifty) reduced to three boats, Solidaires en peloton continues to dominate the debates with Thibaut Vauchel-Camus and Quentin Vlamynck who have a 122 mile lead over Realités of Fabrice Cahierc and Aymerick Chappellier.

Finally, in Class40, that of small 12 meter monohulls, Groupe Snef took control of the hierarchy. Xavier Macaire and Pierre Leboucher remain under pressure from Crédit Mutuel of Ian Lipinski and Antoine Carpentier, 13.2 miles behind.
