Salwa Kouran’s family does not believe the woman committed suicide. The police and the public prosecutor’s office assumed this was the case after the woman’s lifeless body was found in her home in Aalst in early November. “The woman would never commit suicide in her culture, because that is not appropriate,” suggests Jeroen D’Hondt, lawyer for the surviving relatives.
